A special kung-fu group class for kids ages 7-15.
It is designed to introduce and familiarize kids to kung-fu and develop a strong foundation in the Northern Shaolin/Praying Mantis Kung-Fu System. Kids 16 years-old and up should join the adult class. The Grasshoppers classes are also divided up into two separate classes, by age: 7-11 years-old; and 12-15 years-old.
Current Grasshoppers Classes
Beginning Kung-Fu - Grasshoppers 7-11 years-old
This is an introductory class specifically designed for children ages 7-11, teaching authentic and traditional Northern Shaolin and Praying Mantis kung-fu. Grasshoppers gain self-esteem and discipline, while developing strength, agility and physical enrichment.
They discover the 8 Animals Of Shaolin (tiger, leopard, snake, crane, monkey, eagle, mystical dragon and praying mantis) in both form and precept. Grasshoppers learn in a positive and fun environment based on individualized instruction, realistic goal-setting and encouragement. The class is 60 minutes long, which includes approximately 15 minutes of yogic stretching.
Beginning Kung-Fu - Grasshoppers 12-15 years-old
This introductory class is suitable for older kids, ages 12-15, teaching authentic and traditional Northern Shaolin and Praying Mantis kung-fu. As with the Grasshoppers class, students gain self-esteem and discipline, strength, agility and physical enrichment in a more advanced program created to fit the varying needs of teenagers.
Students in this class learn forms, exercises, techniques and applications in a safe setting. The class is 60 minutes long, which includes 15 minutes of yogic stretching.
